Poor Gummy Bear - Don't Lose Your Head...Too Late

Biting heads off little cracker teddy grahams or gummy bears is therapy in a way.  Eating halfway intelligent living things piece by piece is frowned upon in many cultures, but not in the cookie and candy world.  Some people use stress balls, meditation, or breathing to maintain a sense of calm.  I use food cannibalism.  Maybe it’s just me, but it’s interesting to watch these little inanimate objects slowly lose appendages.  First the ears go, and then the head, the arms or legs are next – depending on my mood – and finally the body.   It’s the same thing as dismantling an Oreo and eating the cream out of the middle before devouring the cookie sides.  The process is what makes it so fascinating.
When I was little, I loved to color with crayons.  First I would heavily trace along the edge of the black outlines with my color, and then lightly fill the inside.  I used to pretend that the characters on the page would come to life as I colored them in.  It’s kind of the opposite of the whole ‘cannibalism’ thing.  I would color in their hair and all of a sudden my imagination would make it blow in the wind.  Then I would hear a little muffled voice that I couldn’t make out.  Until I colored in their mouth or lips they would talk that way.  Each limb or piece of clothing I colored would be able to move once it was completely filled in – until the entire page came to life.  Pretty sad then it’s actually gone the opposite direction as I’ve grown older – from creating life (so to speak) to ripping it away an arm and leg at a time.

  1. Okay you lost me with "their hair was blowing in the wind"...lol. I take a different tactic to the whole gummy bear thing. I like to squeeze their sides to see just how thin I can get them to be or I crush their heads down to their toes to see how wide I can get them to be :) I told you I've got weight issues :P
